Edible Bird's Nest Favor

Here's a last minute Easter favor that I made for my brunch guests.  This could also be used as a place card holder or if you change it up a bit it would make an adorable favor for a 'welcome to the nest' shower.

Recipe for Edible Bird's Nests

1/4 cup butter
2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1-12oz package of chow mein noodles

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium low heat, add marshmallows.  Once the marshmallows are partially melted, add chocolate chips.  Stir until marshmallows and chocolate chips are melted.  Add chow mein noodles, stir until noodles are coated.  Let mixture cool slightly, until mixture can be handled and just warm to the touch.

To mold nests, spray the inside of custard cups of desired size (I used a set of bowls with a mouth that measures about 5" in diameter) with well oiled hands, press about a cup of the mixture into the bowl making a slight well in the center.

Allow to cool about 20 minutes and place in a clear glassine bag with your favorite candy.

Happy Easter to all my 'peeps'!!

  1. How many does this recipe yield?

  2. Since mine were on the larger side, this recipe only made 6. I have also made smaller 'nests' using an inverted cupcake pan as the mold and that made 12.

Good luck! Thanks for stopping by!
